Remington Model 58 / 878

The illustrations shown below was scanned off a Remington factory parts list, and are
factory part numbers.  This is important as about all obsolete parts suppliers use ONLY factory or closely associated numbers where ever possible so everyone is on the same page.  This model could use 3 different model numbers, 58, SPT 58, or Sportsman 58, all the same gun, the Sportsman designation was one of Remington's method of designating the firearm could only hold 2 rounds in the chamber, (therefore complying with the Federal Migratory Bird laws) as compared to a magazine capacity of more, requiring a "plug".

The parts listed below are for your identification purposes only.

The author of this website DOES NOT have any parts.

This model apparently was a short lived try to come up with a self adjustment gas system (as compared to the model 58 which the shooter had to do the adjustment on the magazine cap)

and was phased out when the model 1100 came on the market in 1963
