Stevens model 44 1/2

The illustration shown below was scanned off a Frank de Haas Single Shot Rifles & Actions book, and adding factory part numbers if applicable. This is important as about all obsolete parts suppliers use ONLY factory or closely associated numbers where ever possible so everyone is on the same page.

Note, for some of the older firearms, many over 100 years old, the factories never used what we now know as assembly drawings, but just views of many of the component parts & possibly randomly placed

This model is stronger than the model 44 or 45 in that in this model 44 1/2, the breech block slides vertically within the receiver recess, as compared to the model 44 which like the Favorite models used a pivoting breech block that relied on the weaker strength of the screws to contain the rearward thrust.
